Koi Restaurant Review

Koi Restaurant Review

“Since opening the doors of its first restaurant in Los Angeles, Koi has quickly expanded into a global phenomenon. At each location, imaginative dishes are inspired by traditional Japanese preparations then deconstructed and infused with modern California accents. These creations, along with innovative signature cocktails, are coupled with an atmosphere that evokes both intrigue and serenity, transporting guests for an unforgettable experience.”

The word koi has two meanings in Japanese.  Koi refers to the grey and colorful carp fish that inhabit decorative ponds.  It also means love.  If you love Japanese food and sushi, give Koi a visit.  The founder of Koi is Nick Haque from Bangladesh, a small country in South Asia.  After perusing the menu you can see the global influences of Haque’s South Asia heritage and move to California.  Plates are fused with lime, fish, grape, cucumber, and minced ginger.

Recommendations

2.  Request to a table on the patio.

3.  Parking: Valet or arrive early to find parking on the street (carefully read the signs).

4.  Begin your meal with a side dish of edamame, soy beans that have been nicely steamed and salted.

5.  Order several dishes to share and pass around the table, such as the Sunset Roll.
