The California Desert
Spanish explorer and governor of New Mexico, Juan Bautista de Anza, traversed south through the Coachella Valley and Los Coyotes Canyon in search of a land during the late 1700s. In 1963, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway was completed to take passengers from the lower elevation of the Coachella Valley to the top of San Jacinto Peak. In 1992, the first Indio International Tamale Festival began.
This photo collection is of my recent trip to Palm Springs and the surrounding area.

Sonny Bono- record producer, singer, actor, and politician. Bono entered politics after experiencing great frustration with local government bureaucracy in trying to open a restaurant in Palm Springs, California. Bono earned the Republican nomination and was elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1994.
