Printer Shopping Tips: Canon PIXMA Review by Jesse Bluma

Canon PIXMA MG5320 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-in-One Printer (5291B019)

For Canon PIXMA USB 2.0 Printer Cable Cord A-B NEW 6'

 HP Photosmart 3210

Gurrhr, gurrhr, gurrhr, zzz gurrr eheheh.  Those were the last sounds of my old printer.  After years of good quality printing my HP Photosmart 3210 All-in-One Printer, Copier, and Scanner no longer worked.  (See below) I was a bit glad, as the ink was expensive and printers have gotten smaller,  lighter, and more energy efficient.  Additionally, the scanner cover popped off the hinges and I could never get it back on all the way.

Computer Printer Shopping Tips

-  Determine if you want a printer, printer/copier, or printer/copier/scanner.  Think practically as to its usage and you.

-  Check with several electronic review sites (PCMag.com, Consumer Reports, cnet.com).

-  Ask friends, family, and colleges for their recommendations and test print from the printers they like.

-  Consider your budget.  Maybe you can print from another source until you can afford a printer.

-  Many printers do not come with the printer cable, like the Canon above.  Make sure to purchase a cable for the printer if you do not have WiFi for wireless machines.

-  Comparison shopping pays off.  Amazon.com has many reasonably priced printers.  Look for coupons and sales.

After much research I selected the Canon PIXMA MG5320 Wireless Inkjet Photo All-in-One Printer (5291B019).  No printer is "perfect", unless you want to spend mega zillions.  Considering all the pros and cons of various printers I chose this Canon.  I will keep you posted as to my satisfaction with it over time.

*Update:  It has been a few years and my printer has maintained good performance.  The printer is used in my home office a few times a week.  My only issue, as with other printers, is the printer does not hold a ton of paper and I wish the ink lasted longer.
