The impact of Pathways to Housing is powerful.
"Pathways transforms the lives of people experiencing mental health and other life challenges by supporting self directed roads to recovery and wellness in an atmosphere of dignity, respect, choice and hope. Housing First: Our Housing First projects work collaboratively with state and local agencies to place people experiencing chronic homelessness into permanent, independent housing. Our support teams offer a range of services to assist people to reintegrate into their home communities and to sustain housing."
"Pathways Vermont was initially founded with a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to develop Housing First services. The Housing First model was developed by Dr. Sam Tsemberis in New York City during the early 1990s. Housing First differs from other housing programs in its belief that the first step towards resolving chronic homelessness is to immediately house individuals in independent apartments."
