Snooze A.M. Eatery Review

Snooze A.M. Eatery Review

Jesse Bluma at Pointe Viven. All rights reserved.

A recipe for a better breakfast.  Happy Snooze A.M. Eatery opened nearby at 28141 Crown Valley Parkway, Laguna Niguel, California.  The former space of a TGI Fridays.

“Snooze an AM Eatery seeks to evolve the A.M. dining experience through culinary innovation, an eclectic and energetic atmosphere and comfortable and friendly service.  We celebrate each day and invite our guests to do the same…

…Founded in Denver, Colorado in 2006 by breakfast-loving brothers Jon and Adam Schlegel, Snooze revitalized bland breakfast culture, with the duo bringing creativity and innovation to breakfast, along with an energetic and eclectic atmosphere and friendly neighbor-like service.”

Cappuccino--A Must at the Martha Stewart Café New York City

Cappuccino--A Must at the Martha Stewart Café New York City

Some coffee drinks are better than others.  After you discover the flavors you prefer and which brands are better than others you will want to bypass many coffeehouses and bistros.  Confused?  Not to worry.  Here is where my expert knowledge of cooking, restaurants, and trusted expertise comes in handy.  Many readers rely on Jesse Bluma at Pointe Viven as a source for how-to and where-to regarding cookery, culture, and community.  Let an enjoyable experience at the Martha Stewart Café in New York City be your next go-to coffee shop.

The Martha Stewart Café provides a wonderful assortment of coffee, tea, and baked goods.  Martha’s Blend ground coffee is a medium-roast sourced from beans across the globe, including Kenya, Guatemala, and Indonesia.  The warm, chocolate aroma and flavor of this bold and well composed coffee is an elevated flavor in contrast to many others.  Kobrick Coffee, Jersey City, New Jersey, curate the coffee beans and provide sustainable products.

“Welcome to the Martha Stewart Café, a dream of mine that has finally become a reality!  Inspired by the wonderful coffee shops I’ve visited all around the world, it’s a place where I can share my favorite handcrafted coffees, teas, and bakery treats with customers who will enjoy them as I do.  I hope you’ll make the Martha Stewart Café a part of your daily routine…”.

The café is located in a pint-sized corner of the Starrett-Lehigh building located in the West Chelsea area of New York City.  Other nearby companies include Hugo Boss, Tommy Hilfiger, as well as Chelsea Pier and The High Line.  Swing by the Martha Stewart Café, order a cup of coffee, a cappuccino, and a bakery item, then spend some time looking at the architecture of the building, take a stroll in the neighborhood, or walk The High Line—weather permitting.

Pastries and goodies such as croissants, pain au chocolate, granola, candied nuts, muffins, and cookies are also served at the café by Balthazar Bakery, Underwest Donuts, and Bien Cuit.  The barista and cashier were friendly and knowledgable about menu items.  This is not the only location to enjoy these goodies.  The second location is in downtown Sacramento, California.  Dallas, Texas is the location of the third café.

My Recommendations

1.  The café is located at 601 West 26th Street, 1st Floor Lobby, New York, NY 10001 (West 26th Street and 12th Avenue).  Housed within the Starrett-Lehigh building.  The shop is a accessible by car, taxi, car service, and subway.

2.  A small standing area is available within the café, while the nearby lobby has a few chairs.  Enjoy your coffee, tea, pastry, or other items inside or better yet take them on your way to work, school, or tour of the city.  Check store hours.

3.  The Martha Stewart Café has a respectable number of desirable menu items.  The following are my favorites on the drink menu.

Cappuccino with Almond Milk—a must because of its creamy, smooth, and nutty flavor profile

The Wicked Spoon: Where to Start Your Vegas Adventure

The Wicked Spoon: Where to Start Your Vegas Adventure

“A bustling culinary food hall, the Wicked Spoon delivers well-crafted original selections for every appetite.  With its mix of top quality, familiar staples and imaginative seasonal dishes, this Las Vegas eatery satisfies cravings and invites discovery.”

Wicked Spoon is located in The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas.  When the hotel and casino was erected on the west side of the Las Vegas Boulevard, it triggered heads to turn, enticed a new crowd, and filled a niche.  The Cosmo’s two towers, casino spa and casino beach club, give Vegas goers a kinetic resort for fun, play, and dining.

The buffet is handsomely designed with golds, browns, and oranges, stylistic decorative features on the walls and gilding the ceiling.  The chefs at Wicked Spoon create small plates and spoonfuls of food items, in bold contrast to many other buffets and restaurants.  The cuisine includes foods from America, Mexico, and Asia. This allows each diner to personalize, portion out, and enjoy a wide variety of options.  A liberating concept and welcome experience in a town of excess and overabundance.  Highlights of the restaurant are the carving station, ceviche, Asian food bar, and the desserts.  The service I experienced was excellent.  The waiter and staff was attentive, anticipated when my party needed something, and worked hard.

My Recommendations

1.  The Wicked Spoon is located at 3708 South Las Vegas Boulevard, Las Vegas, Nevada.  This is a walkable distance from other hotels and casinos, such as Caesars Palace and The LINQ.  From further distances use a taxi or car service.

2.  Peak times occur during week days and nights, especially on weekends and after shows within the casinos.  Dining before or after peak times can ensure a more pleasant mealtime.

3.  The daily bottomless brunch with mimosas and Bloody Mary's is an excellent way to indulge and start your day in Las Vegas.

4.  Several of the buffet items at Wicked Spoon are tempting, including the pancakes, sausages, and their famous desserts.  The bone marrow on my visit was too oily for my liking, although many other diners have enjoyed a better experience with it.  The following were my favorites.

Pork and chicken from the carving station

Omelet with applewood smoked bacon

Join Me in Supporting Pathways to Housing

The impact of Pathways to Housing is powerful.

"Pathways transforms the lives of people experiencing mental health and other life challenges by supporting self directed roads to recovery and wellness in an atmosphere of dignity, respect, choice and hope.  Housing First: Our Housing First projects work collaboratively with state and local agencies to place people experiencing chronic homelessness into permanent, independent housing.  Our support teams offer a range of services to assist people to reintegrate into their home communities and to sustain housing."

"Pathways Vermont was initially founded with a grant from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) to develop Housing First services.  The Housing First model was developed by Dr. Sam Tsemberis in New York City during the early 1990s.  Housing First differs from other housing programs in its belief that the first step towards resolving chronic homelessness is to immediately house individuals in independent apartments."

This was an amazing auction to be a part of by providing a gift certificate for my gourmet treats.

For the best experience here are a few tips and reminders:

First, it is important to communicate what you are looking for, what you don't like, and ideas you have seen.  Good communication, especially good listening, is key to a successful experience.

Next, it is essential we discuss the mood, feeling, and what you envision.  Formal, beachy elegant, Latin, etc.

After committing to a concept a price point will be determined based upon the number of items, decorations, delivery, shipping, and other necessities.

Thank you,

Jesse Bluma

Nutmeg Kreppel by Jesse Bluma

Nutmeg Kreppel by Jesse Bluma

This cookie is hard to outdo--with a light texture and tossed in confectioner's sugar.  The perfect nibble to wake up to on a weekend with a glass of milk and a side of homemade jam.  Kreppels came to the Americas via German immigrants in Argentina.
