Sherman's Delicatessen and Bakery Review
Sherman’s has a remarkable past. The kosher restaurant began with Sherman Harris, United States army soldier, who fought in the Battle of the Bulge to defeat the German campaign in western Europe. Upon returning to the U.S. on the Queen Mary, Sherman resettled in Palm Springs, became a cook at Laury’s Steak Ranch, and eventually opened his own first restaurant.
“His restaurants became a tradition and favorite hangout for locals and more than a few celebrities, including Frank Sinatra, Red Skelton, Zsa Zsa Gabor, Bob Hope, Rita Hayworth, and Keely Smith.” After his passing in 2008, “Sherman’s Deli and Bakery in Palm Springs and Palm Desert are thriving under the care of Sherman’s children: Sam Harris and Janet Harris.”
Sherman’s offers an array of comfort food. The meals begin with pickles and sauerkraut. The food portions are large, so be prepared to share a dish or to take home leftovers.
