Put Silva’s on Your New Restaurant to Go to List

Put Silva’s on Your New Restaurant to Go to List

Silva’s has an authentic menu for nearby residents, travelers, and food lovers.  Churrascaria is Portuguese, the most common language in Brazil, and refers to a steakhouse or barbeque.  The modern decor, large wall of windows, Brazilian wood striped dining tables, large black and white photos of Brazilian athletes, and bar seating makes for an ideal place to grab a bite on your own, have a dinner date, or gather together your friends.  The menu has something for meat lovers, the healthy-minded types, and fans of Brazilian cuisine.

Authentic: meat carving station (photos above)

Silva’s Fresh Eatery + Churrascaria has become a popular steakhouse in the South Coast Metro area.  I had the pleasure of dining at Silva’s Fresh Eatery for dinner.  The restaurant is where to dine while in the city for happy hour after work with colleagues, before seeing a play at the theater down the street, or after a day of shopping at the prestigious South Coast Plaza.  Perfect for enjoying a delicious meal with family or dining with friends for a birthday.

"Our recipes are authentic, fresh and put together using the best organic, locally grown vegetables and highest quality proteins," General Manager Alex Ferreira.  "This is a family operated business, and the care we put into every detail of the restaurant can be seen and tasted by our customers." (Bradley Public Relations & Marketing)

Grab a plate.  Silva’s is inspired by the owner’s aunt and her home cooking.  Not only does the eatery offer quality meats, such as Garlic Picanha - Garlic and Fresh Herb Culotte Style Top Sirloin, the Chef’s Table of items includes fresh organic and seasonal greens, broccolini and grape salads, and sides such as a thrilling Brazilian stew and Feijão Jalo - Pinto beans prepared with onions and garlic.  The serve yourself, all you can eat, Chef’s Table is a crowd pleaser.

Delicious sounding items on the kitchen menu include Esfirra - Ground Beef, Garlic, and Herbs Baked in Pastry as an appetizer, Mama Silva’s Classic Chicken Stroganoff - Mama’s special Chicken Stroganoff served over Basmati Rice with her special sauce as an entree, Calabresa Pizza - Calabrese Sausage, Mozzarella, Onions, and Olives.  Silva’s also offers a “Power Lunch”, a one time through experience of the Chef’s Table Monday through Friday.  The Chef’s Table, quality meats, healthy selections, and organic ingredients sets Silva’s apart from other steakhouses.

Alex Ferreira, brother of the owner, shared with me that at Silva’s the staff strives to make people smile.  The restaurant is a business, yes, yet Alex and the team want to be good members of the community and treat people in a friendly manner as if customers were in his own home.  That passion is key to making Silva’s stand out.  The homemade desserts is another way Silva’s makes people happy.

The following items are the standouts at the all you can eat, serve yourself, Chef’s Table at Silva’s.

Yucca fries, crispy on the outside and rightly salted, served with aioli (sauce made of garlic and olive oil)

Caprese (kəˈprāzi) salad with a goodly amount of mozzarella cheese

Organic Cauliflower: turmeric roasted and caramelized

Brazilian Beef Stew

Pão de Queijo: Brazilian cheese bread (highly enjoyable, especially when warm)

Biro-Biro Rice: Brazilian fried rice

Feijão Jalo: pinto beans prepared with onions and garlic

Garlic Picanha: garlic and fresh herb culotte style top sirloin (sirloin cap located toward the upper back end of a cow)

Skirt Steak: garlic and fresh herb rubbed beef (thin, long cut of beef cut from the muscle between the sixth and twelfth ribs on the underside of a cow)

Homemade Carrot Cake (delicious with a perfect texture and sweetness level; served with toasted walnuts and fruit)

Caipirinha: a refreshing cocktail that is lightly sweetened and has a bit of tartness.  The Passion Fruit Caipirinha is one cocktail to order and reorder.  Made with Leblon Cachaça Rum (white rum), pure cane sugar, fresh lime, and passion.

A Sleek Restaurant with Neighborhood-Hangout Appeal: insideOut Review

A Sleek Restaurant with Neighborhood-Hangout Appeal: insideOut Review

insideOUT has many possibilities for the locals, visitors, and after work socializers.  The sleek ambiance includes large windows, expansive indoor-outdoor bar, the Eitol [EYE TOLL] Towers, waterfall, and terraced outdoor areas for gathering with small or large groups or more intimate one-on-one conversations.  The California-mediterranean menu is freshly updated with seasonal ingredients and dishes created by chef-owner Maryjo "MJ" Testa.

Beets and Burrata: seasonal roast beets, creamy burrata, toasted hazelnuts, red wine reductions, and basil extraction (photo above)

A friend first introduced the restaurant to me and I have had the pleasure of dining at insideOUT a few times.  As well as going for happy hour and late night.  The restaurant and social space is where to be on a Friday or Saturday night.  Perfect for enjoying a pre-dinner drink with friends and music by the waterfall and patio heaters.

insideOUT is located in San Diego, California.  The climate is some of the best in the world.  Mostly beautiful days throughout the year.  Perfect temperatures.  According to the National Weather Service, “[t]he average daily maximum temperature is 70.8 and the average daily low is 58.1.  Average daily maximum temperatures peak in late August and early September at 78, dropping to 65 in late December and early January.”  A great destination for a sexy and chic restaurant.

Stylish and a bright candy apple spot in the city.  The dining space is modern and earthy, with metal fixtures, and tables constructed of wood and concrete by artisan Sven Hasselberg.  Concrete floors and floor-to-ceiling glass windows give diners a view onto the avenue and passerby a view inside.  The restaurant then flows into the terraced courtyard, complete with waterfall, bridge, shops, and apartments above.  The spaces are married by the impressive  Brazilian stone top bar.

This urban oasis of a restaurant is located within the memorable Eitol Towers and is part of a group of restaurants in San Diego.  The striking red buildings stir up attention on the avenue, “Eitol is ‘lot13’  backwards...the property sits on Parcel 13, there are 13 towers in the design, the 1642 University address adds up to 13”.  The property was designed as a living space, with apartments, commercial space, a few shops, and dining and outside lounge in the courtyard.

Mike Burnett, Architect and Developer for FoundationForForm, was the project designer.  Eitol has outdoor spaces, niches, walkways for socializing in the courtyard surrounded by the red buildings, and the pulse of the property is provided by the restaurant insideOut.  The large windows in the restaurant, indoor-outdoor bar, and must-see restroom all add up to a restaurant the city needed.

Matt Ramon, Director of the MO’s Universe Group, developed the concept and name of the restaurant and lounge, drawing inspiration from the design of the Eitol building.  insideOUT is just that, a space where you walk in to be outside.  “insideOUT, or iO as we have already nicknamed it, is a casual, elegant restaurant that features an atrium surrounded by 13 live/work towers juxtaposed to contrast with San Diego’s gorgeous blue skies, floor to ceiling glass front windows on the inside dining room and bar, a heated water feature, a switchback walkway with seating nooks to relax, see and be seen with a few more surprises along the way,” Ramon explained.

Fideo Rosa: Spanish paella

Grilled Spanish Octopus

Moroccan Spiced Chicken Tagine

The following items on the menu stand out after a few times dining at insideOUT.

Moroccan Spiced Chicken Tagine: grilled aubergine, aromatic couscous, slow roasted tomatoes accompanied by garlic hummus, raita, habañero sauce, and fig chutney

Fideo Rosa: Spanish style paella vermicelli, seared shrimp, Spanish chorizo and chicken, simmered in a sofrito (aromatic blend of vegetables, herbs, and spices) sauce, finished with housemade lemon aioli (Mediterranean sauce made of garlic and olive oil)

Cauliflower purée

Explore the craft cocktails on the menu, such as the St. Gin French 75 made with St. George Botanivore (botanical gin), St. Germain (elderflower liqueur), lavender, and house bubbles.

An Open-Armed Approach to Flavors: The Tropicale Restaurant Review

An Opened-Arm Approach to Flavors:  The Tropicale Restaurant Review

The chefs at The Tropicale offer a wonderful taste of international cuisine.  Menu items include organic, sustainable, vegetarian, and gluten-free options that are full of flavor.  An excellent restaurant for a date, meet up with friends, or birthday celebration.

The Tropicale has a casual, yet sharp environment.  Founder Tony Di Lembo studied at The Culinary Institute of America, owned Indigo and Tahiti restaurants in Los Angeles, and was a personal chef to celebrities.  The Tropicale originated from Di Lembo’s experiences and appreciation for Mediterranean meets Far East eatery.

The experience of owning Tahiti, a kitschy homage to restaurants of the 1960’s, provided the foundation for Di Lembo to build upon.  The island-style restaurant and bar featuring seafood and Asian infusions would become the key elements of The Tropicale that Di Lembo opened with Rob Kuenzi and Ranz Wienert.  The Tropicale Restaurant and Coral Seas Lounge is located in the center of town and is the place to go on a Saturday night.

“Welcome to The Tropicale Restaurant and Coral Seas Lounge® where a chic and sophisticated décor provides the setting for our distinctive ‘world cuisine’, a provocative mix of zesty influences that creates a delightful dining experience in Palm Springs, California.

The Coral Seas Lounge, a hip mid-century style bar is lined with sexy black leather bar-stools and is reminiscent of the upbeat lounges of old Palm Springs.  It wraps around the dining room and leads outside to a lush, tropical, 2000 square foot dining patio where a variety of specialty cocktails and old-school favorites are mixed - an ideal place where friends gather and martinis are sipped under the starlit desert sky.”

Several items on the menu stand out after many years of dining at The Tropicale.

Brown Sugar-Brined Double-Cut Pork Chop with Jalapeño Jelly Bacon Grits, Collard Greens, and Southern Ham Hock Gravy

Crispy Boneless Southern Fried Chicken, marinated in Buttermilk, and Paprika, Corn Mashed Potatoes, Buttered Collard Greens, and Red Eye Gravy

The bread served to each table with olive oil and balsamic vinegar is a treat for the tastebuds.
